Native Android App Developers

Android App Development in Canada

Kotlin apps built for every kind of Android phone and tablet.

Android Apps That Work on Every Device

Millions of Canadians use Android, on phones from Samsung, Google, Motorola and others. That variety is Android's strength and its biggest test. An app that looks perfect on one phone can break on a smaller screen, an older model or a folding phone.

The App Bros Canada builds native Android apps for businesses and founders across the country. We write in Kotlin, Google's preferred language for Android, design to Google's Material guidelines, and test across a wide range of devices before launch. Our team built II Chance, a portfolio and job platform for creators on Google Play, and Hands2Paws, which runs on Android and iPhone.

If your users are mostly on Android, or your app needs full access to Android features, a native build is the right call.

Built in Kotlin for Every Android Device

Kotlin is the language Google recommends for Android. It helps us write safer code with fewer crashes, and it works with every modern Android tool and library. We build layouts that adapt to the screen in front of them, from small budget phones to large tablets and foldables. That way your app looks right for every user, whatever phone they carry.

Testing Across Phones, Tablets and Screen Sizes

Android testing takes more work than iPhone testing, because there are so many devices. We test on real phones and on a spread of virtual devices that cover different screen sizes, makers and Android versions. We check how the app handles slow networks, low battery modes, dark mode and larger text settings. Bugs found before launch cost far less than bad reviews after it.

Google Play Testing Rules for New Accounts

Google has added rules for new developers. Some new personal Google Play developer accounts must run a closed test with a group of real testers for at least two weeks before the app can go live to the public. Business accounts are handled differently. We'll help you pick the right account type, set up testing if it's needed, and plan it into your launch date, so it doesn't catch you by surprise.

Android-Only Features Worth Using

Android gives apps some freedom that iPhone doesn't. Depending on your app, we can build:

  • Home screen widgets that show live info without opening the app.
  • More background tasks for things like syncing, tracking and uploads.
  • Custom sharing and file handling so your app works smoothly with other apps.
  • Support for rugged and business devices used by field and warehouse teams.

What an Android App Costs

Native Android apps usually fall into this planning range:

Budget tierPlanning range (CAD)Best for
Growth build$28,000 – $71,000Custom design, admin tools, payments or messaging

Planning ranges, not quotes. A simpler app can cost less, and larger platforms can cost more. Your price depends on your features, backend and timeline.

Need Android and iPhone? A cross-platform app in Flutter or React Native can often cover both for less than two native builds.

Android App Development FAQs

What does an Android app cost?

Most native Android apps fall between $28,000 and $71,000 CAD. A simple app or prototype can cost less, and apps with many user types or live features can cost more. We'll give you a range after a free consultation.

Do I need Android if my users have iPhones?

Maybe not at first. If most of your users are on iPhone, starting there can save money. Many Canadians use Android, though, so most apps add it sooner or later. We'll look at who your users are and help you decide.

How does Google Play review work?

Google reviews new apps and updates before they go live. Reviews often take a few days for a new app. Some new personal accounts also need a closed test period first. We plan for both in your launch date.

Can you add Android to my iOS app?

Yes. We can build a native Android version to match your iPhone app, or rebuild both as one cross-platform app if that saves you money over time. We'll review your current app and lay out both options.
